  • Single Team Leadership

Do your supervisors lack confidence when confronted by work place issues? Do they turn a blind eye on problems, or do they present management's plansas “front office decisions”?

Single Team Leadership puts these issues behind you. With a depth and clarity that no one else matches, we will customize this course for your culture, your employment jurisdiction, your policies, and your supervisors’ level of experience.

In too many workplaces is that supervisors get caught up in the "us and them" nature of employee-management relations -- two teams in an adversarial relationship. This program teaches managers and supervisors to build a single “us” team.

This program is customized to your workplace and can vary in length from 2 to 5 days, depending on the topics selected. Single Team Leadership can be combined with other subjects such as communications and conflict resolution to make up a comprehensive management training program. The focus is on the concrete skills and knowledge managers and supervisors need.
  • Principle Based Labour Relations

Presented in an entertaining case-based format suitable for both front-line to high-level managers, Principle Based Labour Relations distils 60 years of lessons from arbitration jurisprudence into simple, common-sense principles that guide decision-making. Supervisors learn how to use those principles to achieve management goals and defend their decisions in clear and indisputable terms.

The high-integrity Principle Based Labour Relations approach reduces friction and conflict in labour-management interactions, and lets you manage efficiently, wisely, consistently, and without fear of having to reverse your decisions.

Principle Based Labour Relations can be customized to your culture and contracts!
  • Performance Management

The strongest determinant of the performance you get is the performance you ask for. This course teaches managers how to define good performance, how to assign goals to good performance, how to give feedback and conduct reviews, and how to respond to performance problems.

As taught in unionized workplaces, it builds on Principle Based Labour Relations to debunk myths about the difficulty of demanding high standards under a collective agreement.

Performance Management is an interactive 2-day program that asks participants to work with their own jobs and their own cases, and can be integrated with existing Performance Management systems.

  • Leadership Communication

Do your supervisors lack confidence when confronted by workplace issues? Do they turn a blind eye on problems, or do they present management's plans as “front office decisions”?

This course teaches managers and supervisors to speak with and listen to employees in ways that produce genuine commitment and unleash the employee’s discretionary effort.

We teach practical techniques in real-life case situations so that participants will become confident in giving directions, receiving questions, handling criticism and sarcasm, breaking bad news, fielding complaints, and asking for information.

They will learn how to pin down employees who avoid giving a straight answer.

The course can be expanded to teach simple systems for giving instruction, running meetings, and public speaking.
